June 7, 2005, Lagos, Nigeria -- Netcom Africa Limited a leading communication infrastructure provider of satellite and wireless broadband solutions in Western Africa, today announced its intention to roll out the initial phase of portable, plug and play broadband wireless solution called “MyNetcom” come July 2005. Though limited units of the MyNetcom Connection Kits will be available to customers during this initial phase, it is targeted to cover the following areas of Lagos (the commercial hub of Nigeria); Surulere, Apapa, Lagos Island, parts of Ikeja, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, and Lekki.
Mr. Chris Okelue, Netcom's marketing executive explained that the second phase of the roll out will spread to other parts of the Country such as Port Harcourt, Kano, and Abuja shortly in the near future.
“This solution shall give consumers and small businesses the speed of broadband Internet access, at a very affordable cost while on the move” in the same vein, Netcom is finalizing roaming agreements with its UMTS TDD partners throughout Africa, Europe, Middle East, Asia and America ” Okelue further stated.
At the just concluded CTO exhibition in Lagos, potential customers were thrilled at the uniqueness of the solution demonstrated to the large turn out of observers at the event”. Okelue continued by stating that a page has been opened on www.netcomfrica.com for potential customers to fill out an online questionnaire as these customers stand a better chance of being some of the first users of the solution in Nigeria which may also attract some level of discount.
