February02, 2006, LAGOS-NIGERIA - Netcom Africa Limited, a leading wireless broadband service provider in West Africa, today announced the introduction of 4 new service plans bringing the total service plan offerings to 7 plans for its wireless broadband solution - MyNetcom.
Announcing the introduction of the plans, Mr. Chiekezi Dozie- Netcom's Senior Public Relations & Marketing Officer, stated that “Our new service plans are designed to provide real choice for our customers in terms of service quality and pricing structures. The intention is to lower the overall cost of entry into the market for reliable internet services, thereby growing the market in line with Netcom's mission of creating reliable broadband access for our customers.”
“ As per our original Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), MyNetcom service plans include a data allowance allocation per plan – the amount of data throughput that is allocated to the user – ranging from 1 Gigabyte up to 10 Gigabyte per month. Users can choose the service plan that they feel suits their internet browsing and e-mail usage best. Mr. Dozie stated further, “Like other service providers, Netcom has a small proportion of very heavy users. This group of less than 5% currently consumes a majority of the total internet bandwidth being shared by all users. It is therefore necessary for us to protect the service quality for the other 95% of users by establishing and implementing bandwidth control for those who are affecting quality of service for the rest.”
